The Best Skin Care Products For Oily Skin

by Miranda

I have tried so many skin care products through the years, and although some worked, it came down to learning more in-depth about my health and the reasons why my skin has been the way it is.

More on that later!

Finding the right skin care products for your oily skin can be tough after trying so many things. However, once you find them, your routine will be one you thoroughly enjoy each day. I am going to go over the products that have drastically helped my oily skin.

In this post, you will learn the best skin care products for oily skin.

Cleanser

Having a good oil-free cleanser in your skin care routine is super important. Always, always make sure it reads for oily skin. I know, this is obvious, however, some products will state for all skin types and in fact, are not for all skin types.

I have a few cleansers I will switch out each time, although, I do not do this often when I do it has not affected my skin in the slightest.

My top two cleansers that get the job done are the Foaming Facial Cleanser by CeraVe and the PMD Beauty Cleanse

CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser

Initially, I was skeptical of the Cerave cleanser. In your fingers, it feels super thick and has a clear appearance. The thickness of the cleanser did not feel at all like the normal cleanser I was used to and it felt thick and unspreadable going on my skin.

However, once you add a little more water to your damp skin it does thin and apply easier. This cleanser does lather and leaves my skin feeling clean from removing the dirt and oil.

PMD Beauty Cleanse: Soothing Antioxidant Cleanser

Unlike the CeraVe cleanser, the texture in this cleanser is more on the thinner side. I too was hesitant with this one because it doesn’t clearly state for oily skin. However, I am here to say it does work for oily skin and has not broken me out!

This formula is lightweight easily spreadable and lathers slightly. It is filled with nutrients and ingredients that aim to break down oils within the pores without stripping your skin’s natural barrier.

Whether I use it day or night, this cleanser leaves my skin feeling soft and oil-free.

Toner

I remember back in the day I would use astringent toners filled with alcohol… No wonder my skin was so jacked up. I loved the clean feeling it gave but all it did was dry me out and encouraged my skin to produce more oil.

In recent years my favorite toners that have actually helped my skin and don’t dry me out are Thayer’s Facial Toner and PMD Beauty Soothe: Multivitamin Nourishing Toner.

Thayer’s Facial Toner

This toner has witch hazel in it and does not leave my skin feeling dry during and after use. This toner is unscented and is formulated with aloe vera.

I love using this product after I have washed my face and before I apply my moisturizer.

PMD Beauty Soothe: Multivitamin Nourishing Toner

This toner is amazing! It really soothes the skin after you cleanse the dirt and oil away. This product comes in a spray bottle and is super refreshing when you spray it on.

With this product, you can use it at night and in the morning and it aids in balancing your pH levels. You honestly can’t go wrong with this skin care product.

Moisturizer

The biggest myth I believed was not needing to moisturize oily skin. I understand why this would make sense. However, knowing what I know now, this is far from the truth.

All skin types need to be moisturized and it is super important that you find a moisturizer that will work with your oily skin not against it.

When searching for a moisturizer, it is vital to opt for moisturizers that state non-comedogenic. Comedogenic moisturizers will break you out and will not provide the results you are looking for. As always, make sure the product states oil-free and do simple research, and read reviews from other people with oily skin.

My favorite moisturizers I use and love are the Clinique Moisture Surge 100H Replenishing Hydrator, and the CeraVe Moisturizing lotion.

Clinique Moisture Surge 100H

This lightweight formula absorbs into the skin and applies smoothly. It gives a matte finish, and I don’t feel super oily in the morning or the day after applying it.

I recommend this to anyone with oily skin.

CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion

This moisturizer has two options, one for nighttime and one for daytime. The daytime moisturizer has SPF and is great to help reduce your skin from sun damage.

I was hesitant when I first read lotion, however, these moisturizers leave my skin hydrated and do not feel greasy or heavy during or after application.

Exfoliants & Tools

I don’t have a ton of exfoliant skin care products that I have used however, I do want to start trying some more and find ones worth adding to my skincare routine.

With that being said, I do have one I found and love! I have mentioned this before in my other post on skincare tips. If you haven’t already, I recommend reading more on the 11 best tips to improve oily skin.

My go-to quick exfoliant treatment mask is the Exfolikate by Kate Somerville.

This mask can be done within 2 minutes in the shower and leaves your skin feeling so soft and smooth! When I first tried this product I was amazed at how effective it was and have been hooked ever since.

This next tool I had my eye on it for years before I received it in a past subscription box. I have tried many different exfoliant tools for cleansing my skin and although I did like the past ones, this one is awesome.

PMD Clean

This device targets minimizing the appearance of blackheads, and enlarged pores and reducing oil while lifting firming, and toning the skin.

It vibrates 7,000 times per minute and feels so good while cleansing your skin.

It has two speed settings for the cleansing side and two calming pulsating speeds for the anti-aging side. On the anti-aging side, the pulsating vibrations bring a massage-like feel while you apply your serums and moisturizer.

I love using my PMD Clean for each step of my cleansing and moisturizing routine because it brings a spa-like experience compared to using only my hands.

Finding the best skin care products for oily skin can be a challenge. However, I do believe more and more great products are out there and it takes time to find and try them out. I hope you try some of these skin care products and share them with a friend!
